I'm back!

(maybe)

One of my coworkers at work plays. She's alliance (bleh) on another server, so I'm thinking about transferring if I reactivate.

Why? Well. I went to the forums and checked wowarmory for old friends. Looks like most of them stopped playing around the same time I did.

If I do transfer Jac over, I'll probably make her a completely new character. A male human, probably. I don't think I'd be able to do a faction change otherwise. I'd miss the rotting slouch, the undead dance and the cannibalism too much. My frostsaber will be a ram, of all things. (At least the roflcopter will stay the same)

We'll see.

Oh, I checked the recent patch notes that I missed. Vampiric Embrace is now a 30 minute buff, instead of a target debuff. Powerful and a lovely change for priests. I remember dungeon fights where I tagged a group of 5 mobs with VE and Shadow Word: Pain and let the dots do the healing. I wonder if they'll change Vampiric Touch to a buff as well. (Probably not...)

Return

So. Two months have passed without a formal post. This is what I've done since then:

-attended a bachelorette party and learned how to /bellydance
-completed final examinations
-served as maid of honor in Guthry's wedding
-served as a bridesmaid in Samantha and Jason's wedding

-packed up my old apartment
-moved into my new apartment
-helped the SamanthaJason move into their new apartment
-helped Guthry and wife move into their new apartment

-traveled to Madrid, Rome, Civitaveccia, Messina, Piraeus, Athens, Mykonos, Kusadasi, Ephesus, Didyma, Rhodes, Santorini, Naples, Pompeii, and Sorrento.

-developed a love of baklava and cinnamon ice cream

I think I gained at least five pounds. I refuse to weigh myself until after I work it off.

During my travels around the Mediterranean, I had a French chef, an Israeli security officer, a stylist, personal attendants and two servers.

The personal attendants turned down my room, delivered complimentary room service at any hour of the day, and generally fulfilled my every whim.
-Every morning, fresh coffee was served to my stateroom
-Afternoon tea was accompanied by canapes, finger sandwiches, and a three tiered dessert tray of macaroons, tarts and other french pastries
-Warm milk and cookies were delivered every night before bedtime

At dinner, I was served a formal five-course meal of delectable hor'dourves, delicate consumes, fresh salads, beautifully prepared game and shellfish, espresso and decadent desserts.

Life has been good.

Where do the sick people go?

I woke up today feeling like my eyelashes had been sealed with glue and someone had poured acid down my throat.

The thermometer said my temperature was at 104 degrees F. I felt bad, but not 104 degree fever bad. I retook my temperature a second time, and the thermometer said I was at 101.8 degrees F. Again, I didn't feel like I had a fever. I used a mercury thermometer the third time and was told that I had a temperature of 98.6 degrees F.

I'm going to ignore the readings. It's enough to know that I don't feel well. I should brew some [Honeymint Tea]; the honey will help with my allergies, I hope.

I went to "First to Your Aid"--Dalaran's medical center in the Magus Commerce Exchange. Aside from the first aid trainer and supply vendor (Olisarra the Kind and Angelique Butler), there were only wounded npcs. It made me wonder where the sick people are at. Then, I began to wonder if I ever saw a sick person in Org, UC, TB, or Shatt.

I remembered that other priests, paladins and shamans can cure diseases. But is it right to call myself diseased? I feel ill, but I don't think it's serious enough to label it a disease. Anyway, I started reading up on potential fevers and flu-like debuffs you can get in the game. Here's some I found interesting:
-[Overpowering Sickness]
-[Swine Flu]
-[Fevered Exhaustion]
-[Muculent Fever]

Well, whatever I have is making me less motivated on finishing my research paper. I'd rather warm [Ice Cold Milk] on the stove, eat [Freshly Baked Bread], and wash laundry than create operational definitions for racial distributions and religiosity.

Tomorrow morning is the bachelorette party. (If I'm feeling better tomorrow I'll attend) We're spending an hour learning how to belly-dance, eating at a Lebanese restaurant, and then spending the rest of the afternoon on bumper boats, race cars, and arcades. I'm mostly concerned with how I'm going to belly dance without a belly. Mine rotted off a long time ago in Un'goro.

Stay healthy,
-Jac

Delicious Chocolate Cake, or How Jac Made 120 Gold in 30 Minutes

If you're looking to make some quick gold, the next few days are perfect for you.

Requirements:
-Burning Crusade Expansion
-A character capable of herbing [Mageroyal] (Can be an alt)
-The Cooking Profession with [Recipe: Delicious Chocolate Cake]

As you know, it's Children's Week until May 7. With every world event comes new achievements. One of the achievements necessary to get the Children's Week: Matron/Patron Title requires the player to eat a [Delicious Chocolate Cake].

This works in your favor because:
1. Players who want the violet proto-drake need to eat the cake
2. Players who want the Matron/Patron title need to eat the cake
3. Not all players are cooks
4. Not all cooks have the recipe
5. People are willing to buy the cakes off the auction house if it saves time (and it does)
6. Some players are putting the cakes on 225 gold buyout in the auction house
7. If you sell them at 20 gold buyout, they'll definitely sell
8. Profit!

Ingredients
(8) [Simple Flour]
-Sold in stacks of 5 for 25 copper by cooking suppliers and trade good merchants
(4) [Mild Spices]
-Sold in stacks of 5 for 10 copper by cooking suppliers and trade goods merchants
(4) [Ice Cold Milk]
-Sold in stacks of 5 for 1 silver 25 copper by bartenders, innkeepers, and general goods merchants
(8) [Small Egg]
-Drops off birds under level 20
(1) [Flask of Port]
-Sold in stacks of 1 for 1 silver 50 copper by bartenders and some innkeepers
(3) [Mageroyal]
Yields: 1
Effect: Fireworks and a 1 hour "Very Happy" buff

Now do you see why it's such a hassle?

Bon appétit!
-Jac

Note: You can buy small eggs and mageroyal off the auction house, but if you want to make the most money, you'll farm the items yourself. Inscription + Children's Week has made the price of mageroyal skyrocket.

Alternatively. You can just farm mageroyal or small eggs and sell them on the auction house if you don't have the recipe. =)

D.E.H.T.A Quest Chains

Druids for the Ethical and Humane Treatment of Animals is considered to be a "radical portion" of the Cenarion Expedition. I happen to be exalted with the Cenarion Expedition...what can I say - Zangarmarsh is easy on the eyes. =)

Anyway, even though they're radicals, I completed all their quests. I usually don't pay attention to quest reward names, but DEHTA items are fun! If you're in the Borean Tundra and looking for a chuckle, I highly recommend the quests. They're not difficult and you can help poor little mammals.

Quest: The Assassination of Harold Lane
Item Rewards:
[Band of Wholesome Preservation]
[Ring of Indignant Rage]
[Activist's Signet of Blasting]
Note: the quest giver gives you a horn that will aid you in the fight. Make sure you use it, it'll call a stampede to arrive! =D

Quest: Kaw the Mammoth Destroyer
Item Rewards:
[Faux Leather Hood]
[Ethical Epaulettes]
[Moral Sabatons]

Quest: The Nefarious Clam Master
Item Rewards
[Rod of Poacher Punishment]
[G.E.H.T.A] Item Text: Gun for the Ethical and Humane Treatment of Animals
Note: these aren't the only rewards available

Patch Day: Thinking Positive

Must. Not. Flail.
"Mana Regeneration: The amount of mana regeneration derived from intellect and spirit has been reduced by 40%"
/sputtering noises. But...but...spirit tap out-of-combat...noes!
Thinking positively: Shadowfiend and [Earring of Soulful Meditation] are still viable for in-combat use.

"Shadowfiend: No longer has a 75% reduced chance to be hit by melee, ranged and spells."
;_;
Thinking positively: Shadowcrawl sounds fantastic.

"Blackout: This talent has been removed."
...why you do this?
Thinking positively: I only use it in leveling builds. My raiding spec isn't affected.

"Players are no longer required to do the Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme quest to gain Artisan fishing."
This is Not Okay. I spent hours trying to get the four fish. Tears of my frustration have fallen onto SoS's Misty Reed Strand.
Thinking positively: If I ever intend to level fishing on another character...it's easier now.

"Mind Control: This spell can no longer be cast while it is already active."
/wail If I can only recast MC after it breaks, there's going to be a lot of dying in my future.
Thinking positively: I've only had to MC in Pre-lich king 5-mans. This might not affect me anymore.

Patch Day: Dual Spec

1,000 gold for dual specialization
Considering how potentially convenient this is, I'd say paying a thousand gold for dual spec'ing is a pretty good deal. Back in the day of Burning Crusade raiding, there were days I would respec twice a day. (Shadow for dailies and 5-man dps, holy for nightly TK/SSC raids)

Right now I'm shadow spec for leveling. I've run a few lich king instances and healed with a shadow spec. It's doable, but a little challenging without the holy spec benefits. It would be in the group's best interest if I respec'd holy, but:
  1. It gets v. expensive, v. fast.
  2. My mana pool and gear can handle healing a non-heroic instance
  3. All of the deaths would have occurred even if I were Holy spec
Not only does dual specialization allow me the ability to switch specs at a whim, (Do I feel evil today? Why, yes I do! Fumes: arise!) dual spec lets me have two sets of glyphs. Instead of having a generic leveling-instancing mix, I can focus on convenient leveling ones for shadow, and group-benefiting ones for holy. Also, I no longer have to manually assign talent points every time I respec. Glee!
